Title: Loan Shark
This Makala Kala Shark Soprano Ukulele was bought in Santa Cruz, California. As Kacie Kulture explored new surfaces that could be turned into a canvas, Kacie Avery pushed to re-examine the purpose of the everyday items in our lives. Because of this process, this custom Shark Loan ukulele was born.
It was bought with the shark already apart of the instrument, the graphic was tailored around that. Not wanting to do a basic representation of a shark being aggressive or jumping out of the water, Kacie put his love for puns and wordplay to work that’s when the idea of a loan shark design came along.
The piece was created with the signature Kacie Kulture process of layering abstract backgrounds. This painting is made up of 3 layers the longer you look at the piece the clear the layers become!
